Rise and Strength

by Healthy Diva on July 12, 2011

Good Morning! I was a early riser today for some reason, meaning 6:00 am early!

I figured I should take advantage and get a workout in then, so i did a strength training one

I warmed up with 15 minutes on the elliptical and did a little circuit of moves

I did each exercise 3 times and 12 reps

- Dumbbell Squat ( love these! )

- Dumbbell Bench Press

- One arm dumbbell row

- Standing dumbbell curl

-  2 arm seated dumbbell extension

- Hammer curls

I ended with 10 minutes of light cardio, great workout and done for the day!

* I linked all the moves too, so you can see how they are done if you don’t know!

I had a bowl of breakfast after, needed to get my protein in and wanted cereal

Fiber one and Kamut Puffs with Cherries and Protein Frosting on top!

Does not look pretty, but was good , I love adding protein to my cereal, more staying power that way, at least to me  ;-)

Last night Mike and I booked a trip to Charleston , South Carolina!

We are excited! Mikes best friend ( was his best man ) and wife live there, we actually went there when we first started dating, and we loved it! We are excited to go back, its such a beautiful place and lots of good sushi too!

Im off to get some stuff done!

Go pay for month of yoga, take stuff to dry cleaners, co-op, and maybe mini golf with Anthony

Have a great day loves!

Being an early riser is AWESOME. Especially when you get your workout done first thing. I mean.. its 8:15 .. and you are done with your work out and your blog post. So many things you can get accompished! That is my favorite thing about early morning work outs!

Have a great day! xoxo

Nice Charleston will be lovely, I hear it’s a beautiful place. I love strength training, half thinking of setting myself a fitness goal but just not sure what. Tempted to enter an amateur bikini competition but can’t seem to find any amateur competitions in Ireland or in the UK. Not sure what I’ll do, just think I need a challenge. Would you ever enter a fitness competition? You look amazing x

Girl, its always good to challenge yourself, and you only live once, if you want to do it, I say go for it!!!!!

I always thought about fitness competitions, I did so much modeling though , I really don’t want to get back into it, maybe though, you never know!!! You are soooooo sweet always!

I love getting up early. I usually get up at 5am for work. On the weekends I usually can sleep in until like 8-8:30am. So awesome that you are going to Charleston! I’ve always wanted to go there. It looks like fun! :)

I love waking up early… it makes the day feel so much longer and more productive. The only thing that I hate is that sometimes it makes it TOO long, and by 2 or 3 it’s just like… when’s the day gonna end!

And I love your workout. I wish I could be one of those people that workout before breakfast, but I need some food in me first to ward off the morning shakes.

Love you! Hope you’re having an awesome day :D

I envy you and Mike’s jet setting lifestyle. The most time Gingie and I have spent “away” together was a weekend in Boston….

…with my parents.

Romantic, huh? ;) We did book a trip though this August to go to Florida ourselves. I can’t wait!!

p.s. is that bowl from TJmaxx?! I have the same one in yellow. It’s so big and I LOVE IT!!!

almost as much as i love you :) !

Hey Katie! I love that you post the link to the quick video on how to do the strength exercises! I’m familiar with many of them, but it’s nice to put a name to what I’ve been shown at the gym. Lol.

Also, I’ve been thinking about purchasing a protein powder because I’m not getting enough protein in my diet these days. What would you recommend? I don’t want something that tastes really artificial…but would be good in cereal bowls, etc.

Thanks, girl! :)

Your welcome girl! I like to try to always do that, some moves people might have never heard of, and it helps! Helps me too! lol

I love sunwarrior, its pricey but so worth it to me, its the only protein powder I use regularly , I also use Optimum Nutrition for a casein powder, which is one you take at night, its a slow digesting protein, but I have heard Optimum Nutrition has great flavors and protein powders with their regular whey protein!

I love my sunwarrior though! U can only order online , bad part : p I get it off their actual site or iherb.com, I have had people ask me about it, order it, and fell in love with it too, so up to you!!! xoxo

Sounds like you started off your morning on a splendid note. Arm busting exercises, bowls food of deliciousness, plenty of productivity and a booked vacay?! Terrific Tuesday in the making, I’d say :)

I love sprinkling protein powder right on top of my cereal. I need to try the protein frosting method though!

28 Katie July 12, 2011 at 10:27 am

Yes it has been a great Tuesday! How are you love?

I sprinkle it sometimes too, love it in cereal ; )

I love doing barbell squats. It hurts so good and I love that I feel so strong afterwards.

Yay for your trip to Charleston , South Carolina. I didn’t even know anything about Charleston until I started reading blogs. Now, if ever I go, I want to check out a lot of the restaurants in the area.
