Strength and Green { Fuel }

by Healthy Diva on July 6, 2011

Afternoon!

I am enjoying my recent fave, Iced Green Tea with Vanilla Stevia added  :-D

I love the green tea with the vanilla!  I also love making my own tea at home, instead of spending precious dollars daily at starbizzle  ;-)

I got a great strength training workout in today, I just made up my own at home

-  3 sets of bicep curls, 15 lbs

- 3 sets of  10 hammer curls, 15 lbs

- ran up and down stairs for 1 minute

- 3 sets of  10 overhead  dumbbell presses , 15lbs

- 3 sets of 10 one arm dumbbell rows, 15 lbs

-  jumping jacks for 1 minute

- 3 sets of 10 reverse lunges , holding 5 lb dumbbells each hand

- 3 sets of 10 lunges , holding 5 lb dumbells each hand

- did some nice stretching and done!

** its fun to make up your own routine, I like to do it a lot, I do what works for me, and its fun to switch it up!

I had some green fuel after…

Green Protein  Monster Banana and Strawberry Smoothie in a bowl

- 1 scoop of sunwarrior vanilla protein powder

- 1 cup of almond milk

- 5 strawberries, fresh and cut up

- half frozen banana

- 1 tbsp almond butter

- handful of spinach

- pinch of xanathan gum, about 1/4 tsp

- ice

Smoothies I do love, I crave them sometimes every day for a period of time, then there are days I don’t want them at all!

I am relaxing this afternoon, and I just finished reading my book I just downloaded the other day

This book was AMAZING! I will not share any details, but just know it is a great read!

I need to figure out what to download next now, maybe Kite Runner, my love Amanda is reading that right now and likes it!

Do you love smoothies? Do you sometimes get bored with smoothies?

Ta Ta for now

Katie xoxo

Gah, wasn’t Room fantastic?! Totally blew my mind. Kite Runner is really, really good too. The story is wonderful, and the author has a nice way with words.

I did my strength workout at home today too because I didn’t feel like heading out to the gym, and your routine looks a lot like mine :D All I need is some free weights, stairs, my own body, and I’m good to go. And I’m enjoying a deee-lish smoothie as we speak. Vanilla protein, mango, tofu, AB, and almond milk. I usually get bored of smoothies eventually, but I’m still loving this one :D

That sounds like an awesome workout! Maybe I will try something similar tomorrow. You should definitely read “The Kite Runner” by the way. It’s one of my favs. You should also read “A Thousand Splendid Suns”…it’s by the same author, and I think it’s even better than “The Kite Runner”. Enjoy!

The smoothie sounds awesome! thank you for posting! also, this is off topic but what can you tell me about fruits…Im struggiling to figure out if i am eating too much fruit everyday and worried about the amount of sugars I am consuming. Have you had any troubles with that?

Jesse! Thanks so much!

I dont think you can ever eat to much fruit! The thing is , its good to pair fruit with stuff, like a apple with almond butter, in your smoothies, or other stuff, fruit is not to fear! I eat fruit day or night, and its ok with me! Everyone different! I just tend to eat fruit more in day only, its when it works with my meals!

Never get yourself upset over worrying, life is too short! xoxo

I never thought to add sweetener to green tea. I’m okay with plain green tea, though it’s not my favorite…I really prefer black. But I think a little bit of stevia would make an interesting combo. Good idea!

Great workout! I love doing workouts like that at home — and the cardio blasts in between keep it pretty intense!

Yes I love smoothies — for breakfast or after workouts is the best time!

Your welcome girl! I say, you should always have some protein for each meal, so pairing fruit with protein is good! In the end, you have to find what works for you! Plus fruit, by itself, is not filling! Never fills me up at least! Glad you love my blog, that means so much!!

I love smoothies, but usually only after a workout or in blender protein ice cream at night. :) I usually make mine very similar to yours – vanilla protein, strawbs, bananas, spinach, and almond milk. Never disappoints. :)

I create my own workouts, too! It’s great because you can do all the moves you love and none of the ones you don’t like. Win win!

I make my own coffee/tea at home, too and I think it tastes just as good (usually) as SB!

Great workout and fun creating your own! I need to get more creative in that area. I rely on smoothies for weekday breakfasts when my stomach is not awake enough before work, but get a little tired of them on the weekends.
