Pumped up protein {pizza}

by Healthy Diva on January 20, 2012

Good Morning <3

It’s the weekend and Im sure many of you are happy about that, to be honest, I am excited too. Most people would think, she has no job so why is she so excited for the weekend?

I know I don’t have a technical job that makes me leave the house, I just blog and I blog because I love it and enjoy the happiness it brings me every single day. I do make a little money but nothing to make a living off of, which is fine with me! I get excited for the weekends because I get to spend time with Mike and Anthony, so yes I love the weekends!

Lets rewind to yesterday, well at least late afternoon and dinner!

Snack

Sliced Fuji apple, sunwarrior protein frosting, and brown rice krisps

Dinner

Spinach salad with veggies, grape tomatoes, and a teriyaki salmon burger.

Dressing- 3 tbsp hot and sweet mustard, stevia, 2 tbsp balsamic

This morning was a pumped up morning…

Pumpkin Protein Pizza

Ingredients- 1 high fiber pita, pumpkin protein frosting, sugar free maple syrup, granola

The pita I cooked up on a skillet until it was browned, made the pumpkin frosting, cut up the pita into 4 pieces and topped with the frosting. Add maple syrup and granola on top too, or whatever you please!

Protein? check!

Fiber? check!

Delicious? check!

Loved this breakfast and might be repeating it the next 3 days until my pumpkin is used up  ;-)

This is the granola I used and have been using forever, its always in my pantry. I of course have bought and used other granolas but this one has been a staple. Bear Naked is great granola  :-D

Here are the stats on it too, in case you wanted to see. It has great stats compared to some granolas that can be very high in sugar, so you have to watch if you are watching your sugar intake  ;-)

Have a wonderful day friends, whatever it leads to be, make it a great one!

Katie xoxo

{ Questions of the Day }

Do you look at nutrition labels before you buy something?

What do you look for the most? Sugar, carbs, or fat?

I do look at labels, Im a label whore, excuse my language, but its true! I mainly look for sugar per serving and I do look at ingredients as well, make sure there is not a list longer than my life to do’s list! Haha!

i look at labels, but try not to obsess over the content and focus on my body and how it feels when i’m eating. that being said, i think it’s good to be aware of healthy foods your body does crave and need to thrive. i generally try to keep a portion size of a meal/snack with low sugar in processed foods (3grams). (my nutritionist’s recommendation).

your salad last night looks yummy!!

I know what you mean about waiting for the weekends to come. I don’t have a technical job either. I’m lucky that Scott works from the home office so that I get to see him all the time. That’s why we travel for extended periods of time. I just look forward to hanging out with friends and family on the weekends because of they have 9-5 jobs and don’t have much time during the week.

I’m a label whore too and I think that’s a good thing to be.

Well, that is nice Scott is home though! Mike is not, so weekends are precious to us!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend girl! <3

Hi, I tried making your Strawberry Chia Oats last night (minus the protein powder), but it came out soggy:( All the liquid didn’t absorb & it didn’t look as good as yours. How do you make all the Almond milk absorb into the oats? Should I use less milk since I’m not using protein? Yours looks so yummy! Thanks!
Yes i always look at labels, I never throw anything into the card without consulting the nutrition label!

Hi Christina!

Sorry to hear it did not come out good for you, I am SURE the no protein powder was why! I would say use a little less liquid then, and see what happens from there! You could always add more liquid in the morning if you feel it would need more! Chia seeds are key too, maybe add a extra spoon of them!

Happy Weekend love!

I look at labels mainly for the ingredients, then fiber & protein. That salad looks yummy! I know the feeling about the weekends, love to spending some quality time with the fiance. I was just looking at our schedule and am bummed that next weekend is crazy and we’ll prob not be spending so much time together. Ahh what it is to love and be loved. ;) Have an awesome day!

pumpkin protein pizza – yum!!!
and we are not too big on nutrition labels, as long as it is ‘real’ food with ‘real’ ingredients we do not really care too much. we might glance at them but do not really make them a deciding factor a whole lot.

Happy Friday

Yeah, I read them but mainly I just check sugar, too much sugar and I do not agree!

Happy Friday to you both! <3

I look at labels too. It’s shocking what some “healthy” foods have for nutrition stats!

I LOVE that granola! I know it seems like every blogger in the world is obsessed with Love Grown Granola, and it’s good… but I like Bear Naked better! It’s less clumpy and just the right amount of sweetness for me :)

That pizza is rockin!

Mmmmm…that protein pizza looks absolutely divine! :-D Are you back to using the original protein powder now? That stuff is SO different to the blend, it gets everywhere though, lol! :-P I make such a mess on my clothes – it’s so fine! Ah well…totally normal to have sunwarrior hand prints all over your work clothes, right!? ;-) Hope you have an absolutely wonderful weekend with your boys! <3 xyx

Girlll you are so cute! I love your bloggie these days :)

I always check the nutrition label…I usually concentrate the most on sugar since it seems to really effect me if I have too much at the wrong time. haha!

Yep, definitely a label whore here! ;-) Over the years, what I pay attention to has changed though…I used to ONLY look at calories, but now I care more about protein, carbs and ingredients.

I just bought Bear Naked Vanilla Almond Crunch last week for the first time and I’m loving it. I usually get Udi’s, but felt like switching it up. Variety is the spice of life!

Gchat Monday or Tuesday for sure!! What time? xoxo

I often end up making my own granola because of the sugar content in most store-bought granolas – this one is impressive! 4g a serving is not at all bad, wow, I might have to check that out next time I’m in a time crunch and can’t make my own!

I always look at nutrition labels!! I look at the ingredients for the most part, but for nutrition I’m always on the lookout for hidden sugars. Fats I don’t care that much, but sugar and protein is a must! The higher the protein the better :D Have a blessed weekend KT~
