What I work { out with } Wednesday

by Healthy Diva on January 25, 2012

Good Morning!  The week is really flying by, at least I think so! I can not believe its Wednesday already, and Friday is my little sister Gina’s 20th birthday! One more year and I can do a shot with her on her birthday, haha! I can not believe she will enter the wonderful world of 20′s, time goes fast!

{ Breakfast }

Overnight Berry Cocoa Protein Oats

I used my bride cup that I got as wedding gift for my breakfast and filled that baby up!

Ingredients – 1/2 cup oats, 1.5 cup flaxmilk, cup of berry blend fruit, scoop of sunwarrior, tbsp cocoa powder, 2 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp coconut sweetener

This is the sweetener I used for my oats, I am out of stevia ( order from iherb.com coming! ) so I had to use another sweetener in my oats, and I like this one. I like it to sweeten oats or a smoothie with, baking too! I really never tried it in coffee, not sure how it would be in there.

{ What I workout with Wednesday }

I had a beautiful reader email me yesterday and ask me what kind of exercise equipment do I use at home, she is going to start working out at home and wanted to see what stuff I used, and maybe that would help her on what to buy! I have no problem sharing at all, and I love my simple exercise tools  ;-)

I do not have much, but enough to do the job of a great workout at home!

- Dumbbells, 5, 12, 15, and 25 lb ones

- Medicine Balls 4, 8, and 12

- Reebok Balance Board ( great for doing arm weight moves on, core power! )

- Boxing gloves and the pads to go with them

- Yoga Mat

- Balance Ball

- Resistance Bands ( in the black box )

- Basketball, haha! Not for inside!

Mike and I slowly built up our workout collection, and it was not too pricey. You really do not need much! Mike found the dumbbells on sale at Dick’s last year, and the medicine balls we got at Target for a ok price. With the new year. there is a lot of SALES going on with fitness stuff since its always the time people want to lose weight or get in shape, so its a great time to buy stuff, and get a good deal! I know target had a sale on dumbbells this past week, and still might! You just have to go look and see what you can find!

Target has some deals going on right now with Reebok dumbbells, which are great! Click here to see!

My exercise routines I do,  I find a lot of them on my iMuscle app, Oxygen Magazine, or searching online as well.

You really do not need to spend crazy money to have some equipment at home to workout with!

Heck, I even do tricep dips using my couch and coffee table, which is killer!

So there you go, get your workout on at home peeps!

Have a great day and see you later!

Katie xoxo

{ Questions of The Day }

Do you workout at home?

What kind of exercise equipment do you have?

Do not forget….

The world was not built in a day, so your body will not transform in a day, it takes time and dedication.

I agree- you don’t need a lot of fancy equipment to have a great workout at home. We have a few sets of dumb bells, an exercise ball, a reebok step, a jumprope….Nothing crazy. It all looks very classy sitting in the large plastic container in my living room. haha :) My favorite is a barbell I bought at walmart years ago. It’s my Danskin. the barbell weighs five pounds and has a layer of foam around it so it doesn’t hurt your hands. Then it has four sets of 4 pound plates and two sets of 2.5 pound weights. It was only 20 dollars and is great for chest presses and using for squats, biceps, etc. :)

I love the idea of putting overnight oats in a cup. It’s like putting a thick smoothie in a bowl. Also thanks for pointing me in the direction of Oxygen magazine. I checked it out. It’s easy to navigate and they have some great workouts (in photos, too). I’ve been looking for something just like it… Have a fabulous day!! xoxo

Haha I sometimes do tricep dips with my coffee table too. :) I agree you can have a nice at home workout without tons of money to spend. Looking for when stuff goes on sale is a big help along with knowing your prices. Speaking of Target has their foam rollers on sale this week. My theory is if you don’t need it right away, wait for it to go on sale. There’s always something else you can do. Fitness blogs, youtube vids, and magazine tearouts & your local library are all great resources too.

Fab job on the Fit Test! I did mine today, for some reason I didn’t record the first results, lol but I def feel stronger. :)

I was forced to work out at home when I came home for winter break and ended up LOVING it! I used my exercise bike, dumbbells, a stability ball, resistance bands, and lots of my own body weight (push-ups, etc.). It’s AWESOME to see yourself improve and really get in touch with your bod pod! ;-)

I see these overnight oats all over the internet. Do you eat them warm or cold? Also-i have never seen any traditional like a cinnamon oats. How exactly do you make them. By the way-love your blog. Just came across it the other day.

Hello Adrienne! Thank you and glad you found my blog! : ) Thanks for the love too!

I eat my oats cold! I make them the night before, I put 1/2 cup oats, 1.5 cups water or almond milk in a bowl and microwave for about 2 minutes, it depends on power of your microwave, you want to keep an eye on the oats, they can overflow easy! I usually stir them halfway through the 2 minutes and then put back in! After cooked, I add in fruit, chia seeds, pb , protein powder, or whatever you want to add! Cover and refrigerate overnight and enjoy in morning! Sometimes the oats get stiff, so I will add more liquid to them if need be and mix them up again good! Hope that helps! <3

I like to workout at home sometimes when I’m short on time. I have a few workout dvds that I love, a yoga mat, some hand weights, a balance ball, and a couple medicine balls.

I workout at home sometimes. I usually like to do a Jillian Michaels DVD, actually. I love the 30 Day Shred and a cardio yoga one that she does. Working out at home is nice sometimes, but I feel like I get a boost of motivation from going to the gym, something about a lack of distractions, I guess. LOL

when i workout at home i typically do the treadmill and then some “no equipment necessary circuit” pushups, lunges, squats, etc. :) i would like to get a few sets of dumbbells though!
