Rocco 4 Months Old

by Healthy Diva on November 21, 2013

Here we are at 4 months, two more months until his half birthday! The time has just flown, I swear I was just sitting in my hospital bed with him in my arms yesterday!

Rocco at 4 months….

  • He does not stay still, getting a pic or him sitting on my lap is a challenge, lol.
  • He puts everything in his mouth, anything that he can grab, goes right in his mouth. As you can see from pic above, he eats his hands a lot! We have to be extra safe since he grabs anything close, had to baby proof the living room!
  • Teething has been going on pretty bad, some rough nights of crying and irritability, hoping those bottom teeth pop through!
  • Sleeping in his own crib like a champ now! The first couple nights were a couple wake ups, after that he has done great! Teething has caused a couple wake ups here and there, but he is doing so well in his crib and I am so glad! Phew, it was sad and stressful getting him in there the first night!
I have to say the first week was more tough on me, I was always looking at that monitor and any sound I heard I would pop up! Fast forward to now, I just sleep, I know he is ok and man it feels good to feel human again!
We love this Motorola monitor, just wanted to give my feedback on that for any moms who are looking for a great one!

  • Rocco laughs SO much and is non stop with the baby talk, he has the best voice too! I could listen to him talk forever.
  • Rocco rolls over now, he doesn’t love being on his tummy, but he does roll over and chills for a little, then cries!
  • He manages to move all over like a worm in his crib or on his play mat, I put him in one spot and he ends up in a whole different direction and spot! Mike and I think he is going to be crawling and walking early, who knows! He just always wants to go!
  • He started on oatmeal , he liked it more than rice cereal which was not a hit, he gets oatmeal once a day now as of last weekend! I mixed his oatmeal with some sweet potato the other day for the first time and he crammed it!
Now, each parent has their own parenting style and I decided to start some baby food with him because he showed much interest every time I would eat something, and my doctor told me to introduce it and see how it goes. Rocco obviously loves it, we will do sweet potato for 3 days mixed with his oats to make sure no allergy and then start on peas or another green veggie!
I like these, this is the sweet potato I used, I do want to make our own too! My sister gifted me with a baby food blender, excited to use that!

  • He sits up like a champ, still loving his bumbo! I feed Rocco in his bumbo, but the high chair is getting put together this weekend.

  • He really loves his toys much more now, he will lay on his mat or blanket and just play away!  He passes out from playing too much , wears him out!

  • He loves his security blanket, in fact if he ever loses it, please send help! He needs it to sleep with every night or just to have to calm him down. I have an extra one in case he loses one, but am going to order a couple more. He loves it over his face too, lol, it cracks us up! The blanket is breathable so no worry!

Rocco really knows who his mom and dad are now, he smiles so big when he sees our faces! We are so blessed to have this little man in our lives,  he brings so much love and light to us daily. Rocco you are so loved and you bring SO much love to us.

Moms…
When did you start your baby on oatmeal ? We at first were going to skip it until 6 months, but I just knew Rocco was ready for something more than formula and it has been going great!
What monitor do you have? Do you love it?

OMG!! He is so stinkin cute!! We started oatmeal around 3.5-4 months and started with rice but quickly went to oatmeal as Keely liked oatmeal (and still does) better.

Oh Rocco, you melt my heart! He’s getting so big! It sounds like things are moving in the right direction. I’m sorry his gums hurt so bad. I feel for him and you guys having to comfort him so much through pain. I hope you have an amazing weekend with your men my friend! xoxox

What a cutie pie! I can’t believe he is four months. Crazy!

I started Ezra on cereal at 4 months. I was so OCD about doing it by the book. I probably was a little overboard but I was so afraid to mess something up and I didn’t have any help/examples around. Plus my doctor would have flipped on me if I didn’t follow the guideline. I did wait to start baby food until 6 months like suggested (well end of 5 months) and next time I think I was start a little earlier. I know they say not to but obviously every baby is different. I had such a hard time transitioning her to regular food by one year and I think it was because I delayed on feeding her. I have a friend who started food at 4 months and by 8 months or so started soft regular foods and they eat like a champ! :)

We used a regular monitor… I was afraid I would never sleep getting one that I could see her. Honestly, every noise I heard I was out of bed and in her room so it probably would have been better. :)

I think the video monitors look amazing! If we were to ever have any more kids, I would invest in one for sure.

We have the Motorola monitor too! We love it. We got 2 cameras for the same monitor, so we put one at each side of the crib in case she gets out of sight. We used to keep one by her swing when she was in there, but now both are just in crib. We LOVE it!

I started my twins on solids at 6 months. My daughter was really I to it, but my son took a little longer. I started with oatmeal because I heard rice can cause a lot of constipation. They are now almost 8 months and have tried a variety of fruits and veggies, barley and chicken. I think lentils are next up on the list. I’m a vegetarian so I’m super excited for them to try them! Luckily, them enjoy pretty much the same foods so far which makes things a little easier.

Im really big on going with the going with your gut style of parsnting ;) My son started cereal early at 3 months and purees about 4-5 months. Some people wait but like you I could just tell that he needed more. He was always so interested in what we were eating! We just let him guide us and it worked for us!

Rocco is so cute! Love the picture with his blanket over his face.

My daughter had a taggie comforter and we had a spare too. A great tip is to rotate the blankets. That way, if you do lose one (horror!) the replacement is equally worn and ‘smells right’. They usually spot and reject a brand new one :-)

Thanks!

Oh yes, he uses both so they both have that smell right scent!

Too cute!!!! We must have babies right around the same age! Ours was 4 months on the 16th, and we started rice cereal right after that (going on a week now). He is eating it up, and we are going to start veggies after Thanksgiving!

Sleeping though….still not awesome. He LOVES to get some mommy/daddy love in the middle of the night, so there may be crying in his future…in which case….I may need to buy that Motorola monitor!

Awww! Yes! Rocco was born the 29th!

Ok, so Rocco was not loving the rice but oats he does! It really is fun when they start eating something, I can’t wait until he is 6 months and can try more!

Yes, the motorola is awesome! I use it in the day too when he naps so I can get a workout in or do other stuff around the house!
