Chili Win + A New Protein Powder Win

by Healthy Diva on March 6, 2014

Yesterday was a long day, but the days are always long with this little man!

IMG 4387

Worth every minute, and worth the no sleep for sure, Man I am a zombie today, Rocco had a rough night. I was up late doing the baby food making thing, sweet potato and broccoli batches.

IMG 4424

Rocco is ready for more than pureed food, so we will be trying some food out this week. I have done scrambled eggs in little pieces and toast with jam. We are going to try some other stuff, so we shall see!

Yesterday I got a great cardio workout in while Rocco napped. I should of napped too, haha! Got to be productive when baby is sleeping!

IMG 4364

I was pretty bright yesterday

IMG 4366

After my workout I tried a brand new protein powder that I got sent for me to try. I was looking for a new protein to try since I was almost out of the other one I had, so perfect timing!

Ok, I am officially HOOKED.

IMG 4375

Big Train Frappe protein is delicious! The chocolate was so good, and I was surprised I loved it so much just being mixed with water.

I mixed half  packet of powder, water, and shook up in a cup. Poured over a cup of ice and enjoyed!

IMG 4372

Win! There are other flavors I have to try too, so I am excited to see how they rank next to the chocolate. Seriously the chocolate was amazing. I am so glad I found a new protein I like, since I will be needing some more protein shakes in my life with something I am doing soon!

After my workout I got dinner ready!

I made a batch of really delicious turkey chili yesterday in the slow cooker. I was very productive I shall say  ;-)

This turkey chili recipe I found on pinterest somewhere, and was excited to try since it had garbanzo beans in it. Never had a chili with those included!

Some of the ingredients ( minus the onions and ground turkey )

IMG 4390

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

  • 1 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion copped
  • 1 (28 0z ) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained.
  • 1 (15 0z) can kidney beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 ( 150z) cam chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 ( 4 oz ) can mild green chiles
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
Heat olive oil in skillet over medium-high heat. When hot add turkey and break up in pieces while cooking. After 3 minutes, add onions and cook until softened and meat is no longer pink. Add to the crockpot with other remaining ingredients, mix well!
Cook 6 hours, and enjoy!

We sure did enjoy!  I loved the chickpeas in it especially!
IMG 4415
So yesterday was a win in the chili department and protein department  :-D
Oh, and a win in the bath toy department too
Rocco is loving his new squirt toys we got off iherb. We buy more than supplements or quest bars off there, baby stuff too!

Well, I am ready to start this errand full day ahead! The nanny will be here soon, and I will be off doing some running around, some blog work at home while she is here, and perhaps a nail fix. We shall see! Just nice to have one day to plan things I need to get done and don’t have to drag Rocco with me!

Happy Thursday friends!

Katie xo

So stinkin’ cute. :) I really need to be better about napping while baby is napping. It’s hard to just turn yourself off like that.

Mmm I love turkey chili! Thanks for sharing your turkey recipe.

Enjoy your “break” today. :)

I love using the slow cooker, and chili is one of the best ways to use it! I think the last thing I made was a chili actually! I need to get it out again…..just tough with 3 night classes, and away on the weekends. It does make things so tender though! I need to make time for it :P

I do not have a protein drink as such. As I work my body so hard in workouts, I make sure I consume a full meal within an hour of a workout, and usually take a quest bar while I am stretching/preparing. I am not much of a drinks person in general though!

Keep up the good work, love your posts :)

That recipe looks yummy. The last thing I made in the crockpot was taco soup. My favorite!

I love the slow cooker! Lifesaver for moms! ;) I think it may have been chili (our favorite this time of year) or it was chicken with salsa.

Hope you get lots done with the nanny being there to keep Rocco! I should look into doing that. I could knock off a ton from my list by having someone stay with the kids for a bit!

I love my slow cooker – best kitchen appliance ever! The last thing I made in mine was chicken chili. It turned out pretty tasty!

Love super simple chili! Next on my list to make is a verde chili, I’ve never done it before. Maybe I can try it in my crock pot! The best protein powder I’ve had in a while was actually PlantFusion. But that chocolate mix you made looks really good! The color says a lot about it :)

I just made one of my favorites in the crock pot – sweet pork tacos –>

Hee, that pic of Rocco just sittin and playing in the tubbie, too cute!

I LOVE to make chili, I usually mash up 1 can of black beans, they will melt into the tomatos suace, sooo good (helps make it thick too).
I am sure that is the last thing I made in my crock!

Chili is amazing in this weather. I haven’t made any lately. That’ll change because it’s so easy and makes so much!

Raw Protein is my favorite right now. It’s a little grainy, but I like it!
