Target is is kicking off their holiday campaign, #MyKindofHoliday , where they want people to share unique or special traditions that they do for the holidays. I was asked to join in and celebrate, so I am sharing with you a special tradition that we have every year!

In my family, we love traditions, some we have from growing up, or new ones that we start together. Christmas is such a special holiday, all about family, love, and memories that we will have forever from the holiday, but it is also about tradition for me.

When Anthony and I were on our own, I started the tradition of buying a special ornament for him and I each year. Anthony was so excited every year to pick out his special ornament for the tree, we had fun and looked forward to it every year. Once I met Mike, we shared the tradition with him, every year the three of us for the past 5 years, would get an ornament to put on the tree.

This year we are really excited to add another special ornament yearly to the mix, Rocco will now be getting a special ornament every year! As a family of four, we sure will have tons of ornaments now, but it is so special and fun to open the ornament box each year and see all the ornaments we have picked from the past years. We each gather our ornaments and put them on the tree, funny how time goes so fast and how old some are!

This year we picked out our special ornaments to be added to the tree the day after Thanksgiving when we put our tree up. Every year we have the tradition of putting up our tree the day after thanksgiving, we play christmas music, watch a christmas movie, and decorate.

This year we got our ornaments early, we wanted to get many options before the holiday shopping rush!

I can’t wait to add these special ornaments to the tree this year, traditions are great to have, and I know our boys will pass this tradition on when they have their own families one day.

Do you have a special holiday tradition?

Oh how fun!! Bob and I buy each other an ornament every year as well. Since Keely’s been born, she’s been joining in as well. Another tradition I started with Keely was Elf On The Shelf. Our Elf’s name is Seamus (picked by hubby) and he does some crazy things around the house then on Christmas Eve, he’s leaves a special letter for Keely and a box which is filled with a new Christmas book, Christmas PJs and a movie. It’s super fun!!

i love your family’s holiday tradition. i’d love to do something similar when i have my own family someday.

my family always goes over to my grandma and grandpa’s house on christmas morning for brunch, then we open our stockings from santa (yes, i still get a stocking at age 27 ;)) and exchange presents. later that evening, my grandma makes christmas dinner, which is always turkey and her amazing homemade rolls. i love our family tradition and it’s something i anxiously look forward to every year! <3

I LOVE Ornaments and have way too many of them – it takes me hours to put them on and take them off the tree:) My Holiday Tradition is spending it with my greatest someone and someones!!!

For as many years as I remember we have had a new ornament on each of our Thanksgiving placemats. We would look through them all to find our own unique one. It’s a wonderful family tradition started by my mom and will be continued down through the family.

Getting the family together and having dinner and opening up presents the night before is our tradition. Oh, and I can’t forget Charlie Brown Christmas playing in the background :)
