Turkey Chili Yum!

by Healthy Diva on November 8, 2012

Yesterday since I wasn’t feeling good, I was craving comfort food. Comfort food is always a good call to make you feel better! I had turkey chili on the menu for this week and decided to make it yesterday and it was a good choice.

**recipe adapted from Betty Crocker

Turkey Chili with Brown Rice

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3/4 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1 large onion chopped ( 1 cup )
  • 2 cans of no salt added diced tomatoes , undrained
  • 1 can of low sodium dark red kidney beans, undrained
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon stevia
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • brown rice

I cooked the turkey on a skillet with the vegetable oil until brown, then added the turkey and all the other ingredients EXCEPT for the rice into the slow cooker.

Cook on low heat setting for 8-10 hours!

I added my brown rice in separately, I didn’t end up stirring it in the whole thing of chili. I love these brown rice cups, they are easy and so great!

The turkey chili was so good! I liked having it with the chips too! I am happy to have leftovers for today! If I eat it the way I did last night, it will be gone for sure today. So good, can’t stop!

My belly was full and I was a happy camper the rest of the night.

What to do when your belly is full and you need to digest?

Oh just paint your nails!

Random question – why don’t you just throw the raw meat in the slow cooker? I usually throw everything in together and it cooks fine! Just curious! :)

I love your nail color! I have nude on my nails right now. Would love to put on a more exciting color, but somehow it never sticks and is flaking off after only 1 day! :-( That meal looks delicious. My comfort food is pumpkinsoup!

Your nails are always so cute! I feel like we need a little nail paint party, except that I can’t paint my nails because of work. :(

I’m planning on repainting mine tonight during Jersey Shore ;)

Right now they’re a metallic copper color with sparkles on the ring finger like yours haha– great minds think alike? ;)

My nails are currently…bare and bitten! Ha, I bit them all off last night when I was getting anxious about a (hopefully) future job I’m supposed to hear about this week. I need to start painting them again, that’s the only way to keep me from biting them all off! Teach me your ways, lady!

Turkey chili is wonderful! I love your take on it. Slow cooking the turkey makes it so tender.

I just took off my chipping mint green nail polish. I feel like I should paint my nails something more “wintery” but I can’t help it that I love my fun summer colors!

Black polish is what I decided to roll with. Last week I have baby pink with black mooostaches on them. Clearly, I am on vacation from work. Haha.

I am a huge soup kind of gal. I make massive batches and eat it throughout the week. I just made a lifetime supply of veggie chili. So much that I froze half of it. :)

Love your nails:) I’m currently wearing Essie’s chinchilly.

As for comfort food I LOVE tacos! I use ground turkey and lots of fresh veggies. Yum!
