Meditate in May {Giveaway }

by Healthy Diva on April 30, 2014

Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. Buddhist meditation practices are techniques that encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. By engaging with a particular meditation practice you learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being. With regular work and patience these nourishing, focused states of mind can deepen into profoundly peaceful and energised states of mind. Such experiences can have a transformative effect and can lead to a new understanding of life. ( source )

Meditation is something that I never really made time for in my life. I first tried meditating a couple years ago, and loved the way it made me feel. I really am not sure why I stopped doing it, and why I don’t meditate every day. Meditation can be 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or longer. Meditation is time you take for YOU to calm your mind.

Meditation is awesome, and since yoga training, I have been doing it more. Last night I meditated before bed, and I passed right out. I have such a problem sleeping at night, and meditation has helped that. I actually plan on meditating now when I am ready for bed, it clears my mind and helps me go off to sleep in peace. Clears my noisy mind, which is needed.

I love spreading the word of things that are good for you, and I want you guys to join me for “Meditation in May” all month!

I know meditation might sound like something you don’t have time for or don’t think you would want to try, but you should. Never hurts to try something new, especially if you have lots of stress in your life.

I will be sharing daily meditation mantras as well, which you can use during meditation. When you meditate, repeating a mantra in your head can help silence the mind, experience deep levels of awareness, and pure consciousness.

I would love for you to share a “mantra” that you use during meditation, or just share how good you felt after. Whatever you want to share, or if you don’t want to share, I am extending the branch  ;-)

Use the hashtag #meditateinmay to share your daily mantra, meditation music you might of used, or just how you felt after.

I do love using music for meditation, and have been using the omvana app to get some great meditation downloads. You have to pay for them, but they offer some free ones as well. My beautiful soul sister Heather has some amazing ones too, check her out here!

And just because I love all of you sooooo much, I want to offer a little meditation incentive love…

A pair of pretty Kate Spade earrings! Of course, if your ears are not pierced, these will not be good for you. But you could always give to a friend!

And these are brand new, haha! I am not a person that gives earrings I worn away,  I got two of the same pair by accident . ( they messed up my order )

Figured I would give them away instead of sending back for the other color I was supposed to get.

I wanted to do something nice, since I am grateful for all the support and love you guys give to me over here daily. I will randomly pick a winner on here at the end of May!

Just leave a link to where you shared your #meditateinmay and I will randomly pick a winner! Use it on twitter, facebook, or instagram, and leave the link in a comment. Enter as many times as you want too, or just once!

Hope you will join me!

LOVE this! I started meditating about a year ago and it has been a life changer. I do it every single day and I love hearing what works for others and new ways to deepen my own practice. Thanks for sharing this! <3

i bought this app called ‘headspace’ two years ago and it is one of the best tools i’ve ever used. it’s unique in the fact that it is a guided meditation. there is no weird chanting, singing or ‘sounds’ but a no nonsense approach to settling your mind and acknowledging the comfortableness a few minutes at a time. you start out trying to do 10mins for 10 days and then slowly build up your time.

honestly, i was working an extremely stressful science job at the time of purchase and deadlines were many. it totally kept me sane! i’ve recommended that app to many people and haven’t met anyone who doesn’t like it yet!

Once I graduate, I will be sharing some more yoga on here for sure! I think I will though, do a weekly pose on here in general to show proper alignment and benefits!

I do a different kind of meditation and get outside to become one with myself and nature as well as wander, ponder, explore, clear the mind, find solitude, etc. I either go it alone or have camera in hand. I just feel my body and breathe slowing down and relaxing and IT FEELS OH SO GOOD!!! Happy Meditation in May :)

BONUS MEDITATION is Wine Tasting and Exploring Wineries :) :) :)

LOVE that Renee! There is no wrong way to meditate in my eyes!

Ahhh, the wine tasting! Yesss!

I’ve never really deliberately sat down to meditate. But I think it’s why I prefer a more traditional church service. It’s almost like that time of calm and quiet is my meditation time in a safe place :)

12 Healthy Diva May 1, 2014 at 6:43 am

Nothing wrong with that! <3

13 Joanna April 30, 2014 at 10:26 pm

Love this Katie! I’ve been doing really well the 3rd Oprah Deepak Challenge so I definitely plan to keep this as a daily practice. Thanks for recommending that app. I just downloaded it! :)

19 Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change May 1, 2014 at 12:56 am

I am trying to boot my habit of jumping on social media right away in the morning…so this is a perfect little challenge (especially with those cute earrings!). I am hoping to wake up and just sit + reflect, even journal as well before getting my day completely started.

20 Healthy Diva May 1, 2014 at 6:40 am

Good for you! Hope this motivates you too <3

21 Jenn @ Mark My Miles! May 1, 2014 at 7:19 am

I have been practicing repeating the mantra, “Let go and Let God” throughout the day. Helps keep my inner control freak calm. Love this challenge!

22 Tara May 1, 2014 at 9:13 am

This is great! I have never meditated, however, I KNOW I need yoga in my life, as I am sure meditation will do wonders. I have a friend who teaches yoga at her house and after I finish this half marathon next week, I am going to start going to see her 2x a week. I will also start incorporating meditation daily too.
I like that you do it at night to wind down and sleep well-sounds like what I need.

23 Tara May 1, 2014 at 9:14 am

Oh and I would love for you to start posting yoga moves!! You should do a day of the week=pic a move and have us practice all week to get it down, FUN!

24 Samantha Dee Sanchez May 1, 2014 at 10:04 am

Can’t wait to get started on this!

25 Healthy Diva May 2, 2014 at 8:12 am

This is great! I started meditating regularly a couple of months back… took an online course called meditationSHIFT. So glad to see that the practice is helping others as well!

30 Healthy Diva May 2, 2014 at 8:11 am

Very cool! <3

31 Pua May 3, 2014 at 2:42 am

Oh gosh, I’m a TERRIBLE meditator! This will definitely motivate me to at least try. :-)

32 Debbie (accidently delish) May 4, 2014 at 10:26 pm

first i am so proud that you are doing the Glow Retreat! I would love to be a part of it and will see what I can do!

I have actually recently really started getting into meditation, more in the sense of just taking a few minutes before bed to unwind, relax and clear my mind. It is so refreshing to be able to go to bed with a clean mind instead of thoughts of the day or the next day.

33 Pam May 9, 2014 at 6:11 pm

A true example of total relaxation!
